For the purposes of gas licensing, Western Australia has been divided into eight supply areas. A gas trading or gas distribution licence may be granted over the whole or portions of a supply area. The supply areas are made up of various local government districts. The purpose of a licence area is to define the geographic area in which a gas trading or distribution licensee may operate.
