The Government's uniform tariff policy applies to all residential and small business electricity customers supplied by Synergy (South West Interconnected System Customers) and Horizon Power (Regional Customers).
Horizon Power operates and supplies customers in the North West Interconnected System and in the 29 regional systems, which are outside the South West Interconnected System and the North West Interconnected System.
Horizon Power's electricity tariffs for customers in regional Western Australia are at a level similar to the tariffs applicable in the South West Interconnected System.
Howerver, the costs of providing power in these remote systems are considerably higher than the revenue that can be collected from customers paying the uniform tariff. The Tariff Equalisation Fund is justified by the benefits that the uniform tariff brings to regional areas. The difference between these revenues and costs are funded by the Tariff Equalisation Fund.
