The State, through Synergy and Horizon Power, provides to eligible seniors an electricity rebate equivalent to the cost of 200 kilowatt hours of electricity per applicable month to offset the electricity costs associated with operating an air conditioner in the hottest parts of the State.
The rebate applies:
- for a specific period depending on where you live (north of the 26th parallel and/or north of the 50 day Relative Strain Index line);
- to accounts registered in the applicant's name unless electricity is supplied through a submeter; and
- for electricity supplied at domestic residential tariff rates.
To be eligible for the rebate, you must hold a valid Western Australian Seniors Card AND either a Pensioner Concession Card OR a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card OR be eligible for the Dependant Child Rebate.
This rebate is also available to eligible permanent caravan and park home residents.
