The State Government and the Commonwealth Government collaborate to deliver the Remote Area Essential Services Program (RAESP) to Indigenous communities in Western Australia.  Most Indigenous communities in Western Australia have community-owned essential services plan and equipment.  RAESP provides maintenance, asset replacement, some operations, powerhouse fuel and training so that essential services infrastructure (power, water and wastewater) is kept operating in the communities.  Department of Housing and Works administers the program and contracts a State program Manager (currently Parsons Brinckerhoff Pty Ltd) to manage the program.

Regional Service Providers undertake the repair and maintenance work. These are:

  • Kimberley Regional Services Provider in the Kimberley region
  • Pilbara Meta Maya Aboriginal Corporation/Bloodwood Tree Association in the Pilbara/Gascoyne region
  • Ngaanyatjarra Services (Aboriginal Corporation) in the Goldfields/Central Reserve
