Upstream Gas Issues: Panel Session to discuss WA's experience with pressure on gas supplies and recent rapid increases in natural gas prices. Carbon Capture and Storage - What are the big issues and opportunities facing the Energy Industry?: Keynote Address by Professor John G. Kaldi, Chief Scientist, Cooperative Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Technologies, Australia School of Petroleum, University of Adelaide Australia. Fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas, currently supply around 85 per cent of Australia’s energy needs, and will likely continue to do so for many years to come.  However, the burning of fossil fuels is a major source of CO2, the gas most blamed for the increased concentration of greenhouse gases (GHG) in the atmosphere. There are a host of technical, social, environmental and economic ramifications to the adaptation of GHG reduction strategies. This talk addresses carbon capture and storage (CCS).
